    ELIGIBILITY

    The competition is open to all furniture designers, trade professionals and design students. All submissions must consist of original designs, free from any copies, reproductions or legal obligations of existing products or collections. The designer or design team must affirm that they are the exclusive creators of their proposed designs.

    SUBMISSION FORMAT

    WINNER

    The Winning Design will be awarded $1,500 prize + 2% royalties

    The winner will be chosen by the panel of prominent jurors and announced during Cliff Young Award Ceremony hosted at our NYDC Showroom on May 21st, 2024. The Winning Design will be awarded $1,500 prize and included in Cliff Young Development and Production Plan.

    Additionally, two honorably mentioned designs will be announced and considered for development and production. All three designs will be featured and celebrated at the award ceremony held at Cliff Young Ltd. Showroom.

    INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AGREEMENT

    JURORS

    A jury of prominent design personalities will carefully review the competition entries and select the winning designs. Finalists with be announced on May 15th via our online portal and social media channels.
    Award Decisions: The decisions regarding awards and winning designs are solely at the discretion of the jury and Cliff Young Ltd.

    All the finalists will be invited to the Award Ceremony that will take place during New York Design Week in May 2024. The winner will be announced and honored at the Award Ceremony (the exact date to be determined in April 2024).

    Melanie Calder Russo’s design journey began in Manhattan as the daughter of Nicholas Calder, a world-renowned New York-based Interior Designer. From a young age, Melanie accompanied her father on installations, sparking her love for beautiful interiors and igniting aspirations to follow in his footsteps.

     

    Upon graduating from NYU, she joined her father’s firm. Together, they formed Calder Design Group (CDG), quickly establishing themselves as a design powerhouse with a dedicated team. At CDG, they prioritize understanding clients’ lifestyles and environments, aiming to craft elegant, chic, and livable spaces with meticulous attention to detail and innovation.

     

    Ellen Fisher

    Dr. Ellen Fisher is a distinguished Certified Interior Designer renowned for her expertise and leadership in the field. As the Dean and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID), she has steered the institution through a period of remarkable growth and elevated its prestige within the industry.

     

    A respected Fellow of both the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and the Interior Design Educators Council, Dr. Fisher’s contributions extend beyond academia. Recognized as a Most Admired Design Educator by DesignIntelligence, Dr. Fisher’s dedication to shaping the next generation of design professionals is widely celebrated within the industry and beyond.

     

    Philip Gorrivan

    Since founding his Manhattan design firm in 2001, Philip Gorrivan has gained global recognition for his blend of timeless elegance and modern sophistication. From upscale urban apartments to sprawling country homes, Philip crafts spaces that effortlessly reflect his clients’ desires.

     

    Philip’s firm offers expertise across high-end residential, commercial, yacht, and hospitality projects, delivering fresh yet classic designs tailored to modern tastes. Beyond interiors, Philip oversees a successful product and licensing business, featuring wallcoverings, fabrics, rugs, lighting, and custom furniture.

     

    Maxwell Ryan

    Maxwell Ryan embarked on his journey into interior design after leaving the teaching profession in 2001. Recognizing the transformative power of well-designed living spaces, he founded Apartment Therapy, a pioneering design business focused on enhancing the beauty, organization, and health of homes.

     

    Under Maxwell’s visionary leadership, Apartment Therapy launched its website in 2004, marking the beginning of a groundbreaking digital platform that has since become a household name. His dedication to empowering individuals to create harmonious living environments has also extended to the realm of literature, with the publication of four influential books on design.

     

    Odile Hainaut

    Co-founder, WantedDesign

    Brand Director, ICFF

     

    Odile’s love for design dates back to 1992 when she joined Raison Pure, a French Design and Branding agency. After relocating to New York in 1999, she spearheaded communication and PR for Raison Pure USA, now forceMAJEURE, while immersing herself in the city’s design scene. Her encounter with Claire Pijoulat in November 2010 led to the launch of WantedDesign in May 2011. In May 2023, Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat assumed new roles as Brand Directors for ICFF. Odile Hainaut received the prestigious title of ‘Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters’ from the French Minister of Culture in 2018.
